Force-on-Force Simulation Instructor Training Program
The Force-on-Force Simulation Instructor Training Program is a 2 day (16 hour) train-the-trainer designed to prepare and certify firearms instructors to conduct safe and realistic training using non-lethal training ammunition (NLTA) and force-on-force scenario based training. The course provides guidelines for the implementation of this type of training that is specific to agency needs and available resources. NOTE: This is not a course for learning how to be a firearms instructor. It is intended for those who have already completed a Firearms Instructor Course, Methods of Instruction Course, or Use of Force Instructors Course. Course contents include: · Overview of Simulation Training · The Seven Levels of Simulation · Relevant case law regarding law enforcement and simulation training · Instruction methods unique to simulation training · Simulation equipment familiarization, evaluation and selection based on agency needs and resources · Force-on-Force Simulation program design and management · Guidelines for use of role players · Safety guidelines Some of the simulation equipment that will be examined, to include strengths and weaknesses, include: · Real Action Marker (RAM) · Airsoft · Simunitions FX and similar · Blue guns · Blank firing weapons The course requires the instructors to complete several scenario based evaluations and pass a written examination. There is no live firing during this course and no live weapons are permitted into the training location. Required Equipment: Duty belt, duty vest or tactical vest, Eye Protection, Groin Protection, Whistle with lanyard, Long Sleeve BDU’s, Protective Gloves, and any current training weapons being used by the agency.
